You may have noticed that I changed the name of this blog. What once was Expedition Amazing is now the Serendipitous Tourist. So why the change?
We like to travel, a lot. Short trips, long extended vacations, in state, out of country, we like to be on the go. Now, I am a planner. I love researching a trip because it gives me a chance to get to know another location. I get a thrill in finding the perfect spot to stay, the funky and fun restaurants, the cool excursions and the must-dos.
But, more often than not, it’s the serendipitous moments that are my favorite. The thing is, if you plan too much, you miss out on the unexpected. Keeping to a schedule hamstrings one from experiencing truly memorable moments.
Life is the same way. You can try to plan to the umpth degree, but ultimately life will laugh and wink. It’s the serendipity. And that is what makes life so awesomely unexpected.
Here’s to the serendipity, to life, and to being a most serendipitous tourist.
